SINGLE SPACING
"An additional trick that might hold single spacing on documents.  After you open up the dialogue box under the paragraphs group, select single for spacing, and check the box for not adding spaces between paragraphs, try NOT hitting the "set as default" button.  What (the teacher) found was that if she just changed it to single, checked the box, and then hit okay, it at least saved her settings for that particular document."- THNX to Jenny Young  and Robyn Bricker for this tip

PPT
Some users might experience the following error when opening their PowerPoint presentation in Office 2003...
"PowerPoint was unable to display some of the text, images, or objects as slides in the file (name) because they have become corrupt. Affected slides have been replaced by blank slides in the presentation and it is not possible to recover lost information. To ensure that the file can be opened in previous versions of PowerPoint, use the Save As command and save the file with the same name or a new name."
It seems that this error is the result of a recent Security Update for PowerPoint.  In order to quickly (and temporarily) fix this issue, remove the Security Update.
Click on Start
Go to Control Panel
Go to Add or Remove Programs
Click the box to Show updates
Scroll down to Microsoft Office Professional 2003
Look for Security Update for Powerpoint (KB2464588)
Click on the update and Remove
It may take around 4-5 minutes to do the removal.  This fix should only be done if you get the error message and should not be done on every machine.
Microsoft is aware of the issue and has said that they are looking at a hotfix update on Monday (4/25).
Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.
